I've being wanting to paint this scene ever since I took the picture in 2004, for some reason I kept putting it away. I was attracted to the colors of the arches of the bridge in particular. Lots of grays, purples and blues. I might do this painting in a larger format for my next show in New York. Rio Caliente is the village in the north of Spain in the Asturias region where my mother-in-law was born. We visited the village with my husband's cousins whom came to visit us straight from Venezuela, while we were still living in Spain. No more than 100 habitants, silent and peaceful place with just one way in and out. Not my favorite place to live, but a nice place to relax and get away of the stress of the big city.
