For the first time since we moved to Michigan in February, 2006, I walked in Down Town Detroit. The reason why I didn't do it before? well everyone including the news say Detroit is one of THE most dangerous cities in the US, and according to the numbers extremely close to Caracas, Venezuela, so I got really scared to even dare going there by myself. So before Christmas my husband and I needed to go to the Canadian Consulate which is located in down town Detroit, so I took the opportunity to bring my camera and capture some snapshots of the small motor city. Compared to Atlanta, Chicago, Bilbao, Madrid, Miami, Paris and even Caracas, Detroit is a tiny city with a handful of tall enough buildings. Nonetheless a very interesting city. While walking the streets I came across this water tower and I couldn't resist to take a picture. I knew right there that it was going to be quite a challenge to paint this scene because of all the detail and well because I would have to put more into it since my style wouldn't quite do, but I wanted to try it any way. I have to say I'm not very much attracted to paint industrial scenes, is certainly not quite my style but I really enjoyed it very much. |
